Thank you Kerrie for your invitation to join your forum!!.

:hiya:

For those of you who do not know me I've some 50 years involvement with the AQHA ....owing Quarter Horses, showing Quarter Horses and trail riding ..... my favorite classes to show in are/were Halter, Western Pleasure (until those horses are currently no longer able to move properly) and reined cow horses...the .NRCHA....; I am also a major fan of the Vaquero tradition (the Californios). I've been a 4H leader, AQHA show steward and gave lessons to many successful students who went on to their respective world show wins.

:yay: Yay, you made it! Glad to see you here, SS!

I am curious about the terrain where you live now, since you're talking about "high desert"....I have been to Oregon, but I think I remember it being lush and green and hilly and mountainous and not a desert at all. :okayifyousayso: But maybe my memory serves me wrong, if so please set me straight!

Also, if it's anything like where I grew up, your area could be completely different than anyplace else in the state. I grew up in the Nebraska Sandhills, and it is a whole different world than the Nebraska people see when they drive through on Interstate-80! We had rolling hills, and some of them were almost mountain-sized, covered with prairie grass and yucca plants, and a lot of sky overhead. Nary a tree unless someone planted it there. I really love that area of the state!

Tell us more about the high desert! :joy:

I'm looking for links/photos of our area....will be back shortly....................

Take a look around at the attached photos links of Central Oregon!!

http://www.oregonphotos.com/pageeight-D.html

Oregon is comprised of three distinct geographies....the coast, Central comprising desert and the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mtn. range and Eastern Oregon, arid, dry, strictly desert.....

Your link isn't working. I attempted to go to www.oregonphotos.com and try to navigate to page 8, but that wasn't simple, either. :okayifyousayso:

I'll keep looking around that site, though...it's interesting!
