A friend of mine has been trying to get her horse to take his right canter lead for some time now (over 1 year). Her husband is a good horseman and has trained several western pleasure horses for her. She has been quite competitive for several years with her WP horses. Anyway, they both struggled with one of their geldings, as he simply would not take his right lead. They have tried every trick in the book to get him to pick up that lead, but to no avail. In despiration my friend called Kevin Wescott, he met her in my barn yesterday and got the lead inside 5 minutes. I saw it with my own eyes. This guy really does understand horses. If any of you need help with any aspect of your riding etc., e-mail him. His info. is somewhere on "liverystable". Personally, I don't let anyone ride my horses ('cept me and my daughters :) ), but I would trust Kevin with any of my horses.

Seriously, I am not a big promoter of clinicians, as I don't think it is possible to "can" a method, because each horse is so different, but Mr. Wescott is a rare horseman. If you need any help with any horse challenge...try this guy.

I agree with you about trusting Kevin Wescott's skills. I've watched him work quite a bit, and I always wish I had a video camera because I can't soak it all in and remember it later when I'm working with my horses. If you know of any upcoming clinics in Missouri/Southern Iowa, please let us know!

Kevin Wescott's training style and general manner around horses is amazing. I know Kevin personally, and used to live a few miles down the road from him in Nebraska. We always took our colts and problem horses over to him and he'd patiently help us learn along with our horses. His wife and daughters are phenomenal riders, as well. Their family rides Western and English, and they ride a variety of breeds. It is rare to find someone with the all-around skill Kevin Wescott has. He grew up riding on his parents ranch, and then learned a lot of his horsemanship from Tom Dorrance and Ray Hunt. I would recommend him to anyone with any horse question or problem.

Here are some photos of a clinic I attended. Kevin worked with my greenbroke mare, and answered questions for even the most experienced horse owners there. It was a fun, interactive clinic.

Hi! Just wanted to let everyone know about a clinic put on by a good friend of
mine, Kevin Wescott. It is a Colt Starting, Problem Solving, and Group
Horsemanship Clinic, and is scheduled for May 2-3 at the Fairgrounds Horse Arena
in Red Oak, Iowa (southwest Iowa).

Kevin Wescott is a natural horsemanship trainer who has spent over thirty years
training (was a friend and protege of Tom Dorrance) everything from BLM mustangs
to show jumpers. He rides Western, English, and Dressage, and is excellent at
reading a horse and communicating with it.

If you have an untrained horse or one that has some problem areas, or if you'd
like to bring one that's already started and join our Group Horsemanship Class,
sign up today. You can find all the details and more information on Kevin's
training background at http://www.kevinwescott.com just click on the CLINICS
page and at the bottom there are links for entry forms and instructions for the
clinic. Deadline to register is April 15th, so sign up now!

We'll start at 9:00am on Saturday, and again at 12:00 noon on Sunday. Cost is
$5 for spectators, $75 for Group Horsemanship Class, and $100 per horse for the
Colt Starting or Problem Solving individual one-hour sessions. If you'd like
more info call (712) 767-2269 or
