I know this topic is kinda old but since I'm a new member and love forums I will reply -

I like Clinton Anderson - he makes sense to me - very easy to watch - he's funny at his clinic/tours... he demostarts what it suppose to look like then he does the actual training on a untrained horse...

I've also seen a little demo by Craig Cameron - and I have gone a tour with Dennis Reis...

And since I own MFT I went go and see Larry Whitesell - for one day - but it was a 3 day clinic but I wasn't feeling good so I didn't go back but he's coming back in April so I'll get a chance to see him again...

well...since liverystable.net is my favorite horses for sale site, horse article site, horse forum and horse blog, it only makes sense that my favorite trainer is Kevin Wescott!

I wish he had more questions answered on liverystable.net, but I know Kevin personally, and he has really cut his clinics and horse training down as he is working as a missionary on the Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota. But, that only helps speak to why I think he's a great trainer, because not only is he a great trainer, but an even better person.

I also think people like Curt Pate and Brent Graef are good trainers, but I'm personally not as interested in the trainers that are on RFD all the time - and there's a couple of them I can't stand at all. But I think there are terrible trainers and great trainers all over the place and probably it's impossible to know who the "best" is. I'd bet that if you knew the truth, the "best" is some little old 90 year old cowboy in Utah or Wyoming or wherever and no one except his family and neighbors will have ever heard of him!

I have yet to find a "favourite" trainer just because my training method is a bit of a mix of everyone. I can say for certain that I am not a fan of Pat Parelli. I think that most of his traning methods are just common sense... take his "Horsenalities". Just because my horse hears a loud noise and bolts does not make him a "Right Brain Extrovert". It makes him a horse! Horses are prey animals and when they hear loud or unfamilar noises they tend to want to leave. Common sense!!
