Shantara Farm - horse boarding
|
Shantara Farm offers limited outside boarding spaces for pasture board. Please contact the farm to see if space is available. All breeds are welcome.
Board includes use of all amenities, including 2 arenas, round pen, trails and many more. We feed a premium Purina feed and vitamin supplement daily and when hay is required, we feed hay cut off our 10 acre coastal and fescue hay field. Our family lives on the farm so there is 24/7 security. Our farrier comes every 6 weeks and a veterinarian is available 24/7. The farm is open 7 days a week from 7:00am until 10:00pm.
We ride daily, so come join us as we let our horses teach us how to be better horsemen and have lots of fun!

Shantara Farm - colt starting/general training
|
Shantara Farm offers monthly training from weanling ground manners all the way to aged advanced riding. Through respect and understanding, our number one goal is to have horse and rider become confident that they can conquer any obstacle they might encounter.
The monthly training rate includes board and 6 days a week of ground work, saddle work and anything else the horse might need. We encourage clients to come and learn with their horse and offer whatever tools are needed to make sure horse and rider are comfortable before they leave.
We choose to ride in a western saddle, however, our training methods will give a horse the foundation to excel in any discipline or sport.

Horsemanship/riding lessons
|
Shantara Farm offers horsemanship lessons which includes every aspect of learning about horses. We teach horse care, training, riding, anatomy, safety and how to have lots of fun.
A typical lesson is 1 to 2 students per lesson. We accept riders from beginners to advanced and ages 5 to adult. We teach horsemanship so whether you use a western saddle or english saddle it doesn't really matter. Both are available. Some examples of the exercises we practice are trail class elements, barrel pattern, pole pattern, track cows (when cows are available), basic dressage tests, and many, many more.
We try to participate in at least 2 open horse shows a year. The Shantara Farm Drill Team also exhibitions in local shows when requested.

I am a young and upcoming trainer who loves horses and teaching people about them. I have worked with horses of all ages and levels of training. I specialize in Hunters and Hunter Jumpers though I also have trained some lovely show jumpers. I have been working with some western pleasure horses and lower level dressage horses for the past couple years. I can halter break horses and desensatize them to touch and enviornmental distractions. I have broken a couple horses for riding and trained them from there up through to a show quality ride. I have experience with horses off the track and horses with behavioral problems. I train Halter as well for Arabians and Quarter horses. I would like to start a lesson program and get some groups together to go to shows. I teach equitation for all of the seats I ride as well. I work hard and I stay calm with the horses and people, I dont tend to get frustrated very easily, nor do I give up. I am not a quitter! I try to train each horse in a way that will benefit their individual needs as well as the wants of the owner. There are some videos of my work available upon request. Show records also available.
Price of training is 350.00 per month or 18.00 per day.
Multiple horse discounts available.
Lessons available on your horse leased/owned for 15.00 per hour group lesson no more than 4 to a group. Or 20.00 for private lessons.
All lessons are one hour long.
